Shipping Lead

Position Overview

This position oversees inventory control function such as manual and clerical duties related to shipping, receiving, inspecting, storing, issuing and delivering a variety of materials, equipment and supplies. This position will be responsible for maintaining the production plan by studying and recommending improvements to production control methods, receives incoming material, stack and arrange in proper storage area, and establishing inventory levels by studying supply usage patterns and forecasts. Handles complex issues and problems and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.

 

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to and promote Terex safety policies and procedures
  • Adhere to and promote The Terex Way Values
  • Reviews production schedules and parts picking routines and notifies vendors/suppliers of parts needs
  • Ensure each work area has appropriate and ample materials at all times
  • Remove waste items from the production area
  • Analyzes material flow problems, determines causes, then takes corrective actions such as the design of mistake-proof distribution processes, simplification of sight recognition of parts, shortening of distances, timing of deliveries, etc.
  • Operates material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks or dollies to move stock or reorganize storage
  • Maintain clean work area and participate in 5s standards
  • Coordinates with production control, purchasing and supervisors to align build proper sequence
  • Helps coordinate implementation of ECN & change orders/deviations
  • Actively engage in team problem solving
  • Advanced troubleshooting
  • Provide skills, training, and mentoring to other Terex team members
  • All other duties as assigned

 

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience at Terex in a materials role and/or 4+ years of experience in materials

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma and/or equivalent experience
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Understand and demonstrate basic computer skills
  • Possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter.
  • Computer skills, equipment operation, tool operation, judgment, interpersonal skills, math, reading and writing
  • Able to cover any of the primary material coordinator roles or similar demonstrated capabilities in prior work experience.
  • May provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to subordinate group

 

Physical Requirements of the Job

Physical requirements of the job are classified as medium to heavy. Physical demand requirements are in excess of light work. Medium to heavy work is defined as:

  • 10 to 40 pounds of force frequently, may include pushing, pulling and lifting
  • 40 to 100 pounds of force occasionally with assistance of machinery or others to move objects
  • Ability to stand on concrete for 10+ hours per shift

  • Continuously search for new and better ways of doing things; challenges the status quo and sets stretch goals; works across boundaries to achieve common goals; strives to continuously improve oneself
