Sales Application Technician / Customer Service Technical Rep

JOB SUMMARY: The Sales Application Technician works with customers and the Outside Sales Team to match customer requirements with Terex configurations, verify feasibility, and provide supporting technical data.   This position will also require the interpretation and conversion of customer specifications into clear and buildable documentation for the quoting and order processing functions of the team.


Specific Responsibilities:

  • Manage customer opportunities from quote stage to customer acceptance.
  • Collaborate closely with customers, Outside Sales, Engineering and Production to determine project feasibility and match customer requirements related to truck configurations and specifications.
  • Review and provide coordinator direction in responding to customer quotation requests to assure clear and buildable documentation from which accurate, cost effective and timely quotations can be generated.
  • Verify customer requests and quotation documents meet Terex, supplier, ANSI and other industry standards to determine feasibility and safety of designs.
  • Utilize 2D/3D CAD software (Draft Sight/AutoCAD/Solidworks utilized) to generate preliminary drawings and weight studies for use in specifying, quoting and producing utility equipment.
  • Conduct customer first article inspections (FAI) on applicable jobs.
  • Follow the specified procedures to increase accuracy and minimize the amount of time to process customer requests.
  • Operate file management software for the storage and retrieval of current and past designs, job record and cost information.
  • Assist in the design, specification and maintenance of standard platforms and options for Terex products.
  • Communicate with vendors to specify equipment to insure a high quality product and ease of manufacture while minimizing the cost.
  • Keep up to date on current product developments in the industry and communicate to Terex team members.
  • Collaborate with Outside Sales to determine the best information to be presented to the customer.
  • Advocate for Terex as a business, while also driving customer satisfaction with the product.


Basic Qualifications:

  • 6 months experience in a sales support, parts sales, or a CSR role
  • High school diploma or GED


 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience working with medium chassis applications equipment
  • Experience working with heavy equipment industry
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical specifications
  • Previous experience developing sales proposals
  • Experience in AutoCAD/Solidworks
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of fast-paced, cross-functional analytical team
  • Manage multiple project priorities and deadlines


Physical Activity Level:

Light:  Involves constant standing or constant sitting with constant arm-leg work.  Must be able to lift 20 pounds occasionally, frequent lifting of 10 pounds.
