Production Scheduler

Location: Watertown, SD

Reports to:  Production Control Supervisor

 

Position Overview

The Production Scheduler will manage the daily production schedules and sequence to ensure metric based, smooth flow through the manufacturing plant to support production rates and customer dates.

 

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates all activities related to breaking out the master schedule into individual work area schedules and sequencing to avoid constraints through production inside the facility.  
  • Coordinates with production control, upstream fabrication and weld manufacturing facility, third party logistics warehouse and production supervisors to align build proper sequence.
  • Identify constraints and other issues and drive solutions to ensure continued production flow. 
  • Monitor internal work in process levels as well as alignment with third party logistics warehouse to support the production sequence.
  • Establishes and maintains a positive working relationship through professional and courteous communication with Terex internal team members as well as third party logistics warehouse team members.
  • Adhere to Terex safety policies and procedures, including maintaining a clean work area in accordance with 5S standards.
  • All other duties as assigned

 

Basic Qualifications

  • Four years of experience and/or formal education beyond high school in inventory control, material distribution and planning, scheduling and purchasing.  Additional experience in production may substitute for some training in materials.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter, or the ability to learn this aspect quickly.
  • Must have excellent pc skills and be familiar with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Positive, energetic attitude that comports with the Terex Way Values.

 

Specific Competencies

  • Knowledge and skills surrounding material flow within a production system, lean concepts and process, as well as production planning with on-time delivery of supplies to internal customers. 
  • Working knowledge of Kanban systems, buyer/planner responsibilities and process as well as overall materials systems knowledge. 
  • Strong analytical skills, process oriented and ability to develop action plans
  • Identify problems, works towards root cause elimination utilizing appropriate problem solving methods   
  • Requires excellent communication and listening skills. 
  • Ability to coordinate materials and production schedules with multiple teams
  • Continuously search for new and better ways of doing things; challenges the status quo and sets stretch goals; works across boundaries to achieve common goals; strives to continuously improve oneself
  • Requires the ability to perform math and logic computations requiring sequencing of times.
  • Proven time management and multiple task management capabilities
  • Demonstrate excellent leadership skills
  • Offer assistance and helps others where needed, backs up others
