Maintenance Technician - 2nd Shift

Responsibilities:

In accordance with the goals, policies, and procedures of Terex, Maintenance Technician I is responsible and accountable for the following essential functions and other duties as directed that correspond to the overall function of this position.

  • Maintain, modify and repair a wide range of electrical and mechanical equipment such as welders, wire-feeders, positioners, overhead doors, bridge and jib cranes, etc.  Use basic test equipment to locate malfunctions.
  • Interpret and use drawings, sketches, wiring diagrams, manufacturers’ specifications, and other technical material to determine equipment malfunctions after breakdown.
  • Must demonstrate a proficient understanding of single and three phase motor controls including reversing contractors, low voltage controls, manual and magnetic motor starters, etc.  Must be able to use voltmeters, meggers and other test equipment for checking voltage, continuity, amp draw, etc., in electrical circuits.
  • Must be able to generally identify malfunctions in equipment and make repairs in an effective manner.  Inspect and maintain shop machinery and facility equipment including lubrication, minor adjustments, repairs and functional testing.
  • Maintain building and grounds.  Install new equipment, move or rearrange.   Maintain lighting, air conditioning, etc.
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

Safety

  • Detect and report defective material, improper operation of equipment, and equipment needing service or repair; maintain clean, orderly work areas and clean, efficiently operating equipment; observe prescribed safety procedures.
  • Requires attention, thoughtful and proper operation of equipment and duties to prevent injury to self and others; protective equipment required.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma
  • 1-3 years experience in Maintenance which may include a combination of maintenance mechanic, industrial mechanical, technical and electrical experience, shop mathematics and/or or equivalent

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Ability to read and interpret complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables and other measuring instruments specialized to the job or industry
  • Ability to us COMPUTER – basic computer operation to input and retrieve information regarding parts, repairs,
  • EQUIPMENT OPERATION – fork lift, norkel lift, overhead crane, jib crane, electronic diagnostic equipment
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Math, reading, and writing skills 

 

Working Conditions

Typically works in a manufacturing environment, standing for long periods of time, and requires the ability to move materials weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.  Requires the ability to operate small hand tools as well as common shop floor equipment.

 

Education and Experience

Requires a high school diploma plus either a formal apprenticeship program or higher education in industrial technology, and three or more years of experience in the facilities maintenance.  Additional experience may substitute for formal training.
