Real World Responsibilities:

  • Develop and strengthen supplier relationships. Participate in supplier site visits.  Coach suppliers in effective problem-solving, assist with implementing solutions, teaching best practices for welding, and developing Supplier Improvement Plans (SIP)
  • Create, distribute, and report supplier quality metrics and supplier scorecards for the global Terex AWP organization
  • Learn to work with specifications and codes. Training from experienced mentors navigating industry technical documents
  • Apply code and qualification knowledge to resolve supplier welding quality issues and manage compliance of the Terex supply chain to these standards
  • Cross training opportunities to work directly with other weld engineering departments at Terex, such as our production welding teams and new product/process development teams.
  • Solve complex fabrication and welding related quality non-conformances and help develop effective countermeasures to prevent recurrence.

Must haves:

  • Currently pursuing an ABET accredited degree or concentration in Weld Engineering or similar field
  • Desire to work in a variety of environments: in office, hands-on work in a manufacturing plant, and with suppliers
  • Experience with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, as well as SolidWorks and AutoCAD
  • Ability to work in a team environment

 

Nice to haves:

  • Ability to work 3-6 months in Redmond, WA
  • Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks/projects at one time, and project management experience is a plus
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts and goals
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to travel
  • Acquainted with American Welding Society codes. Specific interest in B 2.1, D14.3, and D14.9 or AWS D1.1
  • Basic carbon steel metallurgy and metallography
  • Awareness with other industry codes and standards ergo, ANSI, ASTM, ISO a bonus
  • Knowledge of quality tools and metrics (APQP, PPAP, 8D’s, 5 why’s, fishbone diagrams)
