North America Director of Warehouse Operations

Position Overview:

 

The North America Director of Warehouse Operations will be responsible for all Parts warehousing functions and locations in North America (NA). Across these locations, the role-holder drives process discipline and efficiency and manages the operational, daily business through common processes, systems/tools and KPIs.

 

The role holder will be responsible for identifying industry best practices and process enhancements for Parts Warehouse Operations; including but not limited to quality and operational efficiencies directly contributing to an improved customer experience.

 

Parts & Services is one of the three priority areas of the Execute to Win element of the Terex strategy. This includes significant transformation projects in our parts distribution. This role will play an important role in the delivery of those transformation projects with a focus on Parts warehouse operations in North America. 

 

Responsibilities:

 

P&L Responsibility

  • Actively manage and deliver on the committed Annual Operating Plan (AOP)/Budget SG&A targets for the NA Parts Distribution Centers, i.e. Warehouse Cost

 

Warehouse Management

  • Lead the internal and 3PL Parts warehouse teams in North America to deliver superior, industry-leading Operations performance based on a comprehensive KPI system. This includes the warehouse in- & outbound performance to standard, warehouse quality in terms of bin denials and warehouse errors, and inventory accuracy measurements.
  • Coordinate the inventory management process that complies with both audit and financial requirements in terms of inventory accuracy
  • Ensure that Terex health and safety policies and procedures are implemented and followed in line with the Terex programs and values
  • Monitor and maintain appropriate staffing levels, and lead recruiting and talent development initiatives
  • Train and coach direct reports, and ensure clear expectations and regular feedback
  • Ensure that all Terex HR, Ethics and compliance policies and procedures are known, applied and followed by all site staff
  • Act as interface with and point of escalation for Terex commercial operations centers and Terex sales affiliates in respect of the operations performance out of the NA Parts Distribution Centers

 

Parts Operations Business Development

  • Drive significant operational improvements in terms of Quality/ 5s in the North American warehouse operations
  • Initiate as well as execute business process improvement initiatives for the NA Parts Distribution Centers with a strong focus on system/ tool enhancements to continuously enhance performance and customer experience
  • In close cooperation with functional and segment leadership team, develop the North American Parts Operations Network Strategy with the objective to improve reachability and service to Terex’ customer base while maintaining or reducing cost
  • Lead the execution of the network strategy, including potential warehouse integrations and relocations as well as setting up and integrating new warehouse locations

 

Performance Management

  • Straight-line lead in the performance management process for all Parts employees within Parts Warehousing functions in North America

 

Collaboration within the Global Parts & Services Organization

  • Seamlessly collaborate with the other functional teams in Parts, specifically the inventory planning and procurement teams as well as the sales teams, to maximize the customer service experience in NA and support the Parts Business results in terms of customer service and financial return
  • Seamlessly collaborate with the segment Parts & Service organizations

 

 

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Deliver a superior, industry-leading Operations Parts support to customers, dealers and other Terex subsidiaries out of the NA Parts warehouse operations
  • Deliver on the committed Annual Operating Plan (AOP)/Budget SG&A and transportation cost targets for the NA warehouse operations
  • Performance management of direct reports
  • Seamless collaboration and tight integration with the other Parts functions, the 3PL teams, the segment businesses as well as corporate support functions

KEY MEASUREMENT:

  • Agreed Parts KPI metrics for the NA Parts operations (such as warehouse in- & outbound performance to standard, warehouse quality in terms of bin denials and warehouse errors, transportation performance)
  • Annual SG&A & Transportation Cost AOP/ Budget
  • Performance management processes in TTMS completed on time

Level and effectiveness of collaboration to achieve overall results

 

Qualifications & Skills:

 

  • Master or University Degree, preferably in Operations, Logistics or Supply Chain
  • Minimum 8+ years experience in managing large warehouse operations, preferably of complex in-house operations and 3PL contracts in an international environment
  • Ideally 5+ years industry experience in Parts – preferably with an industry-leading organization
  • Lean Methodology Qualification (e.g. SixSigma) and related experience in process enhancements and standardization
  • Effective Project Management Skills
  • Advanced knowledge in Warehouse Management Systems, ideally Oracle
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and flexible team environment
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to hold team members accountable
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) to negotiate and influence internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage tight timelines 

 

Language: 
 

  • Excellent written and spoken English

 

Travel:
 

  • Must be willing and able to travel (approximately 50%)
