Lean Workshop Leader

It is the responsibility of this position to promote lean manufacturing principles and support companywide improvement initiatives by providing daily coaching, formal training and project management to plant-level improvement teams and plans.


Other responsibilities include:

  • Conducts classroom training in lean manufacturing principles
  • Develops value stream strategies and improvement plans
  • Teams with process owners to identify improvement opportunities
  • Prepares and leads kaizen events and projects to support plant improvement
  • Facilitates sustainment of improvement activities and results
  • Engages as a hands-on coach and participant to team based improvement projects
  • Manages improvement resources as required to meet customer needs
  • Provides technical guidance in developing manufacturing/business process and system designs




Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of two (2) years working within a Lean Operating System
  • College degree in IE, ME, Business or applicable work experience
  • Skilled with MS business applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook


Preferred Qualifications 

  • In-depth knowledge of the principles, tools and techniques of Lean Manufacturing
  • Experienced in the education and mentorship of Team Members in a broad range of Lean Production philosophies to include: the Shop Floor Kaizen process, Production Preparation Process, Distribution Kaizen, Material & Information Flow Mapping and Administrative Kaizen.
  • Ability to develop or tailor customized training to specific customer needs
  • Proven capability to lead groups through technical problem solving activity
  • Able to manage multiple responsibilities and priorities concurrently
  • Skilled at identifying, targeting and prioritizing areas and/or processes for improvement
  • Ability to determine appropriate tools, methodologies and timing of improvement activity to best achieve business objectives.
  • Demonstrated success in the planning ,execution and follow-up of kaizen events and projects
  • Able to work with area Management to ensure successful follow-up to workshops
  • Develop Team Members’ ability to utilize improvement tools and methodologies
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Experience with fabrication, weld, paint and assembly preferred
