Terex GB Ltd has just been ranked number 18 in the Ulster Business Top 100 NI companies. Terex is a fast-moving engineering company continually developing in N. Ireland. Our Omagh and Campsie sites manufacture crushers, shredders, conveyors, etc employing 600 team members in Omagh and 145 at the Campsie site. We are looking for an experienced HR Manager to join this busy HR team.  This is a newly created opportunity that offers scope to develop our talent acquisition strategy, talent development strategy as well as the opportunity to be actively involved in HR projects and initiatives whilst shaping the vision, values and culture agenda within the business. This is an exciting role for someone looking to join a fast-paced business and who has a passion and skillset to be operational and strategic in their approach to develop effective HR solutions for the businesses.

What you will be doing?

Reporting to the HR Director, you will take responsibility for converting some of the key strategies of the business into HR initiatives, and providing direction, advice and support within the HR teams and to other key stakeholders within the company.You will drive the overall recruitment strategy for the business by leading and managing recruitment, and also providing effective solutions to any talent acquisition and talent development requirements whilst addressing other HR business challenges.

Vision and values are at the centre of this business and you will be committed to driving the overall cultural change programme through the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion action plans, as well as Engagement action plans. You will be involved in numerous projects to ensure HR is ‘adding value’ long term.

This is a key hire for the organisation and you will be working closely with stakeholders to understand business and operational metrics and in turn improve business performance by driving the people agenda to achieve business results. Key responsibilities will include:-

  • Management, coordination and overseeing the day to day recruitment needs of the businesses, providing support and guidance, as well as building strong working relationships with managers to understand current and future recruitment and training needs within the business.

  • Building the Terex brand in the market, promoting the employee value proposition and ultimately making the business an employer of choice for the best & brightest talent available in the labour market.

  • Analysing the business’ current recruitment processes and making improvements through the utilization of the company’s website, social media, job boards etc, to attract the passive and active talent in the market.

  • Assessing future workforce plans for the business, ensuring we pipeline top talent in key areas, and promote equality of opportunity across the business supported by appropriate policies and procedures.

  • Leading the delivery of local HR initiatives and projects while working within specific budgets and to defined deadlines. This includes supporting on various initiatives to enhance employee engagement and retention, whilst benchmarking of hourly rates, salaries, and general terms and conditions of employment.

  • Conducting detailed analysis of HR trends and metrics in order to develop solutions that will alleviate any current problems and deflect future ones.

  • Developing an understanding of the functional areas of the business, conducting a training needs analysis by working with the functional stakeholders to identify training needs and put relevant training plans in place and within budget, and then review on a regular basis.

  • Supporting stakeholders in devising, collating and review of meaningful and relevant individual development plans as part of the Performance & Talent Review cycles and to ensure continuous learning and development across the business.

  • Supporting business stakeholders at driving organisational change to meet future business needs, as well as supporting on succession planning, to ensure they are developing their best talent. 

  • Assisting in the development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives and instill HR practices/processes which add value

  • Building and maintaining robust relationships with key stakeholders across our business to create a collaborative approach to people related initiatives.


Education/Qualifications/Experience –

  • Degree or equivalent experience

  • Experience of sourcing positions within manufacturing or engineering industries

  • Full recruitment campaign management experience, including employer branding.

  • Knowledge of current employment legislation related to recruitment, including GDPR.

  • Knowledge of HR best practice with regard candidate attraction, recruitment processes, talent pooling, metrics on recruitment performance, employer branding, social media recruitment and diversity and inclusion

  • Proven track record of recruitment experience (ideally gained in-house) across various levels and functional areas, but if not an understanding of in-house recruitment practices

  • Demonstrated experience and proven track record of projects and initiatives which add value to the business.   

  • Experience of organizational change

  • Proven ability to identify, scope and implement commercial and pragmatic HR solutions in response to changing business needs.


Skills & Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels

  • Strong organisational skills, including planning and time management to enable effective prioritisation of tasks & delivery to deadlines.

  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills and experience of in house recruitment systems HR Information Systems may be advantageous

  • Ease at networking and building relationships, internally and externally and championing the employer brand.

  • Ability to negotiate and influence at all levels.

  • Ability to work on own initiative with limited supervision

  • Strong written communication and ability to produce recruitment literature to develop employer branding

  • Knowledge of and ability to manipulate data within Microsoft suite of applications & other HR applications.

  • Demonstrate accountability for own actions and work collaboratively with others to ensure an effective provision of service at all times.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with hiring managers and HR team members on sourcing the best person for the role.

  • Ability to work as part of a flexible HR team, prioritise the workload and complete tasks and objectives in a timely manner.


You will be adept at working in a fast paced, complex environment and able to balance the operational demands of the business along with multiple project initiatives.  You will be a creative individual who is able to understand how short term decisions impact the long term goals of the organisation.
