Manufacturing Engineer

Newton, NH, US

Working with the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and Manufacturing Engineering team, the successful candidate will be responsible for the development and improvement of existing manufacturing systems, processes, procedures and equipment to maximize safety, quality and delivery, and to minimize cost of manufacture.


Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop processes designed around Lean Manufacturing principles including Yamazumi and 5S.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement the most efficient and cost effective production methods.
  • Develop manufacturing assembly line layout, specifying BOMs and routings, work flow processes, and detailed work instructions.
  • Work with production, engineering, and quality departments to establish and implement containment and route cause fixes to manufacturing issues.
  • Research and analyze design proposals for ability to manufacture on a basis that minimizes waste and cost. 
  • Suggests design modifications through engineering change requests (ECR) to facilitate production. 
  • Assists Design Engineers and manufacturing team members to resolve engineering-related production problems. 
  • Provide design for manufacturing (DFM) feedback to the design team during design reviews.


Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited school
  • 2+ years of experience as design or manufacturing engineer supporting product with significant mechanical / electromechanical content.


Preferred Requirements

  • Commitment to Lean Manufacturing and knowledge of time studies.
  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical schematics, blueprints.
  • Prior responsibility for process, manufacturing tool design, equipment or product validation/verification.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  • 4 years of related quality experience in a manufacturing environment
  • B.S. degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering
  • Computer skills, including MS Office.
