Field Service Technician

Position Overview

In this role you will provide on-site and remote technical support on all aspects of CBI and similar type equipment. You will be expected to be a technical champion of said machinery to customers, dealers, engineering and executive leadership. Day to day duties include installing, troubleshooting, modifying, advising, training and repairing CBI and similar type equipment either in-person or remotely.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide both on-site and remote technical support for CBI and similar type equipment. Including but not limited to:
    • Fitting, welding, machining, and repairing equipment as necessary.
    • Electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical diagnostics and troubleshooting.
    • Report back costumer concerns, issues found,  possible improvement.
  • Operate CBI provided service vehicles in a responsible manner, follow all Federal Motor Carrier requirements, and maintain proper licensures as needed.
  • Maintain accurate reports and tool truck inventory. Perform scheduled cycle counts and reconcile all discrepancies.
  • Maintain a current working knowledge of all CBI equipment. Training sessions provided.
  • Provide technical training to internal and external personnel.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Must be able to adapt to different types of working hours as per the job requires.
    • Minimum of 8-hour days
    • Maximum of 13-hour days (Rare occasions)
    • Starting shift will vary from job to job
  • Submit all reports in either digital or handwritten format in a thorough and timely manner as required.
  •  Other duties as assigned.


Tools Required

  • Mechanic set up to 1 ¼
    • Tools above 1 ¼ will be provided
    • Specialty tools will be provided
  • Pneumatic 3/8-1/2 impact gun or cordless*
    • ¾ -1” pneumatic will be provided
  • Basic electrical tools
  • Tool replacement program available for tools broken on the job


Required Skills and Experience

  • High school or technical school graduate
  • Problem-solving and mechanical troubleshooting skills
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Highly reliable and punctual
  • Good driving record
  • Current Valid Driver’s License
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to think outside the box


Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 + years’ experience in heavy equipment field repair
  • Working knowledge of electrical and hydraulic best safety practices
  • Blueprint and low-voltage electrical/hydraulic schematic reading ability


Physical requirements

  • Adhere to all onsite PPE requirements
  • Standing/moving in work area for long periods of time, up to 70% of the time
  • Pushing/pulling while repairing machinery
  • Bending/kneeling/crouching/crawling/laying to perform maintenance on machinery
  • Lifting equipment/parts up to 40 pounds
  • Working at height on occasion, ascending/descending ladder or stairs or on aerial work platform equipment
  • Repetitive motions that may include the wrist, hands or fingers
  • May occasionally face exposure to outside elements when repairing equipment in the field
