Electrical Controls Engineer 1

Newton, NH, US


  • Evaluate and troubleshoot facility and manufacturing control systems consisting of PLC’s, VFD’s, HMI interfaces, as well as process instrumentation.
  • Troubleshoot or modify existing PLC programs and make system hardware recommendations to resolve operation problems, and improve processes.
  • Document and maintain revisions of bill of materials, system drawings, PLC programs, and computer software/hardware information.
  • Provide electrical engineering, systems integration, PLC programming, drive programming, HMI configuration, component specification, project management, and start-ups.
  • Design and implement improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve reliability of existing and new control systems and equipment.
  • Develop control panel designs, sizing calculations, specifications, scopes of work, and electrical systems schematics.
  • Calibrate instruments and electronic transmitters for pressure, temperature, flow,
    position, etc.
  • Support and assist Service/Manufacturing personnel in testing, troubleshooting, modifying, and installing electrical equipment and control systems.
  • Support and assist aftermarket parts, purchasing, and warehouse with inventory concerns.
  • Support and assist with hydraulic system design and troubleshooting.


Basic Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years’ experience with PLC programming.
  • 1-3 years’ experience with Electrical Design


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, wood and waste industry preferred
  • Knowledge and skill in programming with Rockwell Software (FactoryTalk Studio/View, RSLogix/Studio 5000, SLC 500/RSLogix 500)
  • Knowledge and skill in programming with Parker IQAN (Not Required)
  • Knowledge of Programmable logic controllers [ControlLogix, CompactLogix, MicroLogix]
  • Knowledge of Variable Frequency Drives [ABB, Allen Bradley, Siemens]
  • Knowledge of Communication Protocols [CAN bus, J1939, and Ethernet TCP/IP]
  • Knowledgeable about Instrumentation calibration of pressure, temperature, flow, level etc.
  • Knowledge in AUTOCAD (Electrical Preferred)
  • Knowledgeable in NFPA 70(NEC) / 70E.
  • Advanced computer skills and proficiency in MS Office and other windows-based program.
  • Must be effective and comfortable in team-oriented environment.
  • Must be willing to have hands-on involvement with industrial equipment.
  • Working schedule may require nights, week-ends and on-call hours.
  • Ability to travel up to 20%, both domestic and abroad.
