Strategic Sourcing Development Manager (Remote)


About the Job

Reporting to the Supply Chain Director, this individual oversees the sourcing activities for new products.  The role will actively liaise with product development procurement team members to ensure alignment with the global and local sourcing strategies as directed by the Category Managers. Product development projects consist of new model and cross-portfolio subsystem product development and regional sourcing to extend the manufacturing footprint of existing products.

  • Works closely with product development leadership teams to understand sourcing requirements develops plans to ensure materials are sourced in a timely manner to support the project plan.  Able to translate the strategy into a workable plan that identifies resources – both internal and external – necessary to achieve project objectives.
  • Monitors the progress of the project and manages the ebbs and flows of material requirements accordingly through the purchasing team members embedded in the project teams.
  • Understands and manages the materials budget for the project; ensures the budget is maintained and minimizes acquisition of excess inventory.
  • Works closely with Global and Site Category Managers to ensure the commercial needs of the project are met.
  • Responsible for working across Genie facilities as the project dictates, including sites outside of the US. 


About You

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, or similar field
  • Ability to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally
  • Minimum of five years of procurement experience in heavy manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated track record of working closely with cross-functional product development teams and driving collaboration to ensure project success on time.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to create and execute a project plan on time.
  • Strategic thinking necessary to understand new product development challenges and to identify resources necessary to achieve project deliverables.
  • Cultural awareness and flexibility necessary to work across time zones with internal team members and suppliers.
  • Experience and knowledge working with process improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma or Lean
  • Strong data management skills (Excel, Access)
  • Ability to teach and present technical materials.
  • Demonstrate communicate effectively at all levels and functions of the organization both verbal and written.
  • Metrics driven and customer focused.
  • Ability to develop, direct, motivate and gain the commitment of teams.
  • Located in Redmond, WA
