Assistant Controller

Moses Lake, WA, US

 

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze business level key performance indicators & develop reporting to explain key cost drivers; material cost, material burden, freight and duty, other costs of goods sold, labor and overhead
  • Lead and provide guidance to operational team on strategic plans, annual budgets and financial forecasts
  • Lead special projects in support of the operations
  • Partner with various functions – Materials, Operations, Engineering, Segment finance, HR & IT.
  • Perform cost analysis of operational spend / cost structure (make vs. buy, capacity, and other decision-making analysis) & other cost reduction initiatives
  • Provide financial oversight of inventory and fixed assets; safeguarding of assets, cycle count and physical count adjustments and excess & obsolescence reserve
  • Provide support and input for Capital Expenditure requests
  • Provide support to the Global Business Service organization (shared service accounting function) for month-end close process, journal entries, and account reconciliations
  • Execute and comply with Terex policy and procedures, local statutory and legal requirements and Sarbanes-Oxley documentation, assessment and evaluation requirements as directed
  • Other Ad hoc financial reports & requests

 

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Knowledge of accounting within a manufacturing environment, including product / standard costing
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP
  • Working knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley compliance requirements
  • Can act independently and interact as a partner with senior executive management.
  • Leadership skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Modeling skills in Excel
  • Understanding of financial statements
  • Knowledge of PowerPoint

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree 
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in Finance or Accounting

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Experience with Oracle
  • Experience with OneStream consolidation system
  • CMA (Certified Management Accountant) or CPA (Certified Public Accountant)
  • 1-3 years in public accounting experience
  • Master’s in business administration
  • Self-motivated and positive attitude
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Proven strong analytical skills
  • Process improvement driven
  • Detail-oriented and results driven
  • Ability to multi-task and adjust to changing priorities
  • Strong work ethic

  • 10 - 15% travel required.
