Operational Service Manager

This team performs preventative maintenance and repair on construction equipment, heavy trucks or tractor trailers, or similar machinery. They maintain or troubleshoot and repair gas and diesel engines, transmissions, clutches, and brake, electrical, or hydraulic systems. They replace worn or broken parts, aligns wheels, adjusts brakes, tightens bearings, tunes engines, etc. They test fixes and makes adjustments as necessary. They perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures. They estimate time and material costs on vehicle repairs, and requisitions new parts and equipment.

 

This role is responsible for managing the Field Service Technician team in the greater Louisville market and supporting dealers/customer needs. We deliver the best customer service in the industry by providing knowledgeable, timely assistance to customers world-wide. As a Manager of our Field Service Technician team, you are responsible for overseeing new equipment set-up and commissioning, as well as trouble shooting and repair for the Powerscreen and Evoquip product lines. Additionally you will participate in training and hands-on demonstrations for service training schools. You will work closely with engineers and the production team to support, enhance and improve our products.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Ensure compliance with all Terex policies, procedures, and work instructions
  • Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the service team and service department.
  • Supervise and coordinate estimations, planning, allocation of labor and parts for all major inspections, rebuilds, workshop repairs and field service activities.
  • Ensuring all jobs are compliant and completed successfully by maintaining safety, efficiency, quality, standards and maximizing utilization, while working within estimated pricing and promise dates.
  • Represent the Service Team in its relationships with all customers by maintaining effective communications.
  • Ensure that all repairs remain within budget and on time by daily reviewing progress of repairs.
  • Assist with inquiries and discuss technical issues with customers.
  • Assist with repairs, maintenance and servicing work where required.
  • Assist in identifying training requirements for the Service Department.
  • Actively attend and take part in meetings, training and team group projects.
  • Supervise/manage the field service technicians
  • Assist with the display and simulation of equipment and technical presentation
  • Assist with the development and presentation of training materials
  • Any other duties as required or directed by your manager  

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years' supervisory or management experience
  • 3+ years' experience working/troubleshooting with electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems of heavy equipment
  • 2+ years' experience in a customer service environment
  • High school diploma or GED 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Valid driver's license will be needed by Day 1
  • Have the ability to travel as necessary
  • Associate/Technical degree
  • Experience in reading and understanding schematics and engineering drawings
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required, both in-person and over the phone
  • Willingness to make decisions with purpose and a strong sense of urgency to resolve equipment failures promptly
  • Ability to work independently and use available resources to complete tasks with minimal supervision
  • interacts well with others in a diverse environment and be a team player
  • Needs to be dependable and punctual 
  • Training experience, conducting training seminars and hands-on demonstrations
  • Good computer experience required, including working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Word
