Weld Utility

Huron, SD, US


Essential Functions:

  • Operate sand or shop blast equipment in an enclosure to remove sand, dirt, scale oxidation, etc and to impart a finish to casting surfaces.  Move and position parts to expose surface to be blasted.  See that abrasive tanks are kept filled to required levels and maintain equipment as needed.
  • Operate stationary and/or portable grinders and pneumatic chipping hammers to remove excess metal, oxidation and foreign matter from weldments and structures.  Change, dress, wheels and sharpens chisels when required.  Finish grind weld seams, break edges, remove burrs, straighten parts and smooth off die marks.
  • Operate forklifts within TEREX Utilities’ forklift policy/program to move and store parts and materials, as needed.
  • Read and interpret blueprints.  Access computer terminals.      
  • Comply with TEREX Utilities’ quality standards through error prevention and by meeting such requirements with zero defects.
  • Perform other utility functions as needed.


Job Qualifications:

  • Ability to safely and efficiently operate forklift and overhead cranes.
  • Atmospheric exposure to dust, and vapors.
  • Certain personal protective equipment is required.
  • Compliance with all applicable occupational health and safety required.


Physical Requirements:

  • Physical requirements of the job are classified as medium to heavy.  Medium to heavy work is defined as exerting 20 to 100 pounds of force occasionally (0-2.5 hrs/day); and/or 25 to 40 pounds of force frequently (2.5-5.5 hrs/day); and or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly (5.5+ hrs/day) to move objects.  Physical demand requirements are in excess of Light work.

  • Required to wear Proper Protective Equipment (PPE)
