Position Summary

The main function of the State Service Manager is to lead the Service, workshop and Pre-Delivery Teams ensuring all repairs on our customer’s machines are completed efficiently and to a high quality standard. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with key customers and suppliers resulting in a high level of customer satisfaction.



  • Meet and support customer expectations and maintain appropriate working relationships with all major customers and suppliers
  • Embrace and uphold the Terex Way values
  • Manage a team of technicians and administrative assistants whilst leading a safe workplace
  • Facilitate weekly face to face meetings with your team along with team engagement events
  • Promote employee development and succession planning
  • Lead the safety culture and safety compliance within the branch actively pursuing Zero harm
  • Embrace the Terex Business System philosophy and be the advocate for the region
  • Liaise with Leadership team for preparation of forecasts and budgets to meet overall objectives of the company
  • Meet key performance metrics and monthly reporting against critical KPI’s
  • Successfully manage and achieve branch profit and loss requirements
  • Work collaboratively with interstate branches to ensure effective development throughout Terex AWP business
  • Market and promote parts and service capability to existing and new customers
  • Work with National Parts Manager to optimise the parts inventory holdings
  • Assist customers through education on our products, service, warranty and technical support (Genie 360 Support)
  • Ensure customers have access to field service, parts personnel and other team members as and when required
  • Manage customer enquiries
  • Create and manage quotes
  • Manage resourcing of labour and parts for the pre-delivery team. Supporting the sales team to ensure equipment is delivered on time.
  • Manage and existing portfolio of customers and develop new business opportunities

    This is a very busy and varied role which requires a reliable individual with the ability and willingness to manage multiple priorities and challenges through the course of a day.


Position Qualifications


  • Experience in a role with leadership, management or supervisory responsibilities preferably in the Access or Rental industry
  • Previous experience in rental, industrial, construction or related industry
  • Tertiary qualifications in a business discipline or equivalent (advantageous but not essential)
  • Qualification or experience in Lean or continuous improvement (highly regarded)
  • Experience in the maintenance and operation of Mobile Elevating Work Platform equipment (desirable)
  • Mechanical Trade Qualification - Light Vehicle or Heavy Duty (desirable but not essential)
  • Current driver’s licence



  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Understanding of safety requirements and practices
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with customers, both internally and externally
  • Self-motivated with an ability to manage time and workload autonomously and initiate actions  
  • Well-developed problem-solving skills with the ability to establish creative solutions
  • Proven people management and leadership skills
  • A passion to deliver exceptional customer service
  • A team-oriented mindset and an ability to delegate
  • Understanding of business acumen, such as, risks and opportunities, data analysis and purchasing principles
  • Strong analytical skills, organisation and accuracy
