New Product Development Engineer

Overview:

This is a product development role for Terex products under the Advance Mixer brand name and will be tasked with developing and applying reliable engineering methods, theories, and research techniques in the development of new concrete mixer designs and design of associated products and control systems.


Responsibilities:

Implement technical projects in the design, development, testing, and documentation of concrete mixer trucks.   Create specifications for new vehicle designs. Perform design and analysis of electric drives, battery storage devices, truck mounted electric generation, electrical and hydraulic control systems, and associated safety devices.  Develop new designs from initial concept to implementation and improve existing designs.  Verify and document compliance with applicable NHTSA, DOT, and other applicable standards.  Specify component and machine testing, create procedures and detail testing processes. Work closely within the technical team to augment a dynamic and creative engineering work atmosphere.  Create documented designs with detailed parts and assembly drawings and specifications.  Create and maintain complete machine product structures including bills of materials and service parts information.  Work closely with the quality department,  materials group, and suppliers to specify and test manufactured and purchased parts.  Maintain a focus on design for safety and manufacturability and work closely with the production facility to assist in product and process improvements.


Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
  • 5-10 years of design experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proficient with solid modeling and 2D drawings
  • Excellent PC skills including Excel and Word
  • Experience in vehicle electrification
  • Experience in J1939 protocol
  • Ability to follow sequenced work associated with complex design tasks
  • Demonstrated team player qualities
  • Experience with engineering changes and documentation processes
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong orientation towards safety, quality, and continuous improvement
