Cost Accountant

Fort Wayne, IN, US

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain standard cost system, including: 
    • Inventory reconciliations 
    • Standard cost setting 
    • WIP accounting 
    • inventory accruals 
    • Inventory reserve accrual and roll forward analysis on excess, obsolete, lower cost of market, and warranty inventory reserves 
  • Responsible for month-end close
  • Responsible for month-end reporting and analysis by product line 
  • Managing day-to-day cost accounting activities 
  • Managing standard cost change process 
  • Review material, labor and overhead variance 
  • Review open orders and bill of material 
  • Review various cost and labor allocation 
  • Responsible for reserves analysis and inventory accounting/reconciliation 
  • Interface with various operational and accounting staff 
  • Other project as assigned by the manager
  • Direct support to Controller with various other projects or ad hoc reporting as needed.

Preffered Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree 
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a financial or business analyst or cost accountant


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field
  • Operational experience within manufacturing business
  • Microsoft Office Products experience, specifically with Excel, Outlook, Power Point and Word as well as the ability to learn corporate ERP system
  • Evidence of comfort and familiarity around top management
  • Keen sense of urgency, task and achievement orientated, meet deadlines
  • Time management skills, ability to plan ahead
  • Attention to detail – must be accurate, sound report writing commentary skills
  • Excellent communication Skills
  • Willing to travel occasionally
