The General Manager is the business leader for Terex MPS with key priorities being safety, employee engagement, business growth via market share and new product development, and financial success.  This role requires a motivating, engaged, positive leader to drive the business forward.

The General Manager - Americas will have full responsibility for safety, HR, manufacturing, supply chain, engineering, sales and service for MPS in North, Central and South America.  This includes P&L responsibility for all MPS sales into this region, the Durand Michigan factory, OKC factory, and Cedar Rapids Iowa office.  This role also provides matrix support to Cedar Rapids parts business teams in Iowa and Southaven, Mississippi.

The role requires significant experience in construction equipment markets and a broad history of successful experience in, or managing, sales, engineering, and operations.  The successful candidate will be fluent in financial statement interpretation and budgeting processes, noting that a Finance Director will be working hand-in-hand with the General Manager on creation of budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.

Must have leadership and entrepreneurial ability to engage all functions around his or her vision for the future.


Key Tasks

  • Lead MPX (Terex MP Business System) performance efforts in Safety, NPD, and Sales.
  • Manage the Durand and OKC factories to drive for +90% on time delivery
  • Manage supply chain and materials teams with goals in inventory management, on-time vendor delivery, and cost down projects.
  • Build and support an industry leading distribution network, including attending dealer and customer meetings.  Important to build dealer relationships.
  • Leadership & guidance of product management strategies for the product range, including managing the team to provide competitor analysis, data collection from competitors, dealers and customers to develop product modification and new model development.
  • Provide proactive support of distributors and regional sales managers, quickly addressing deficiencies and ensure a clear line of sight for success.
  • Ensure that weekly scorecards and monthly site packs are properly done and more importantly, use these tools to manage the business.
  • Work with downstream teams and finance to prepare budgets and forecasts, and then work to achieve them.
  • Work with HR to create organizational structure that serves the business well.  Ensure equitable treatment of all employees and drive for diversity in our teams that reflects the areas we work in.
  • Travel approx. 50% , with frequent travel to support MPS Americas factories and sites, along with dealer visits and international travel in the territory (Americas) and to MPS sites elsewhere as needed for meetings.
  • Other duties as required


Basic Qualifications 

  • Bachelors Degree
  • 10 plus yrs. experience in a heavy manufacturing environment


Preferred Qualifications


  • Extensive experience in running a heavy equipment business through numerous cycles and stages of complexity. 
  • Strong commercial background
  • Track record of managing financials
  • Successful in managing within a matrix environment.
  • Previous experience of aggregate equipment or similar equipment
  • Track record of management in different business cycles, with a portfolio of ‘lessons of experience’
