Stores Manager

Reporting to Materials Manager, you will play a key role in the Materials department by management of the Stores team. Particular focus should be paid to Health and Safety procedures, inventory control and working to apply lean standards including 5S, whilst maximising the utilization of labour and space.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing safe working practices and ensuring safety adherence in your area
  • Manage and develop the receipt, storage and issue of all raw materials while maximising storage availability, ensuring appropriate stock rotation, and minimising damages.
  • Manage the Stores team to ensure an efficient and effective operation including relevant training and development.
  • Lead/Attend various meetings including start up, control room and accountability meetings
  • Operate an accurate stock control system by effectively finding the root cause of transactional errors and queries by manipulating the ERP system.
  • Ensure 5S in all areas is constantly challenged and striving for excellence.
  • Manage all other operations within the Stores area including production requests, return to Stores, racking inspections, inter org transfers and any other reasonable duties that may be required from time to time.
  • Managing all aspects of suppling parts to Production including reporting shortages, stock out issues and identifying root cause
  • Use of PIT in a safe and efficient manner including Counterbalance, Reach Truck, Pallet Stacker, Tugger Truck etc.
  • Assisting the Materials Manager to implement continuous improvement initiatives set via 5S audits and actioned using Kaizen newspaper
  • Managing and auditing the PFEP purchasing system
  • Control and communication of weekly KPI process and ensure that process is adhered to
  • Prompt and accurate control of paperwork
  • Monitoring and reporting of excess and obsolete inventory
  • Escalation of key issues to Materials Manager as required
  • Compliance with internal environmental and waste management procedures
  • General Housekeeping Duties

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Excellent communication, planning and organisational skills
  • People management/supervisory experience is essential
  • Proven experience within a similar role preferably from within manufacturing industry
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility and ability to work in an environment that is fluid with constantly changing priorities
  • Knowledge of inventory control, lean manufacturing, takt time and continuous improvement
  • Ability to learn quickly, use your initiative and work as part of a team
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail is essential for success in this role
  • A logical and methodical approach to problem solving along with the ability to complete tasks in a timely manner to meet targets
  • Ability to govern progress to a detailed level and interpret system reports to bring about change as necessary
  • Self-motivation and initiative
  • IT literacy and experience of MRP style system
  • Participation in supervising for success (SFS) and Behavioral Based Safety (BBS) training programs
