Position summary

This role will be involved in the US and UK cyclical corporate tax compliance process for companies within the UK group, working with tax manager; local finance teams and the Global Business Service centre (“GBS”) to ensure accuracy and timely reporting of US and UK numbers. Opportunity for increasingly complex tasks and ad hoc assignments to be added. 

 

Selected specific responsibilities

  • Work with the Corporate Tax Manager; local finance teams and Global Business Service centre (“GBS”) to manage quarterly US tax workbooks and provision reporting for UK companies.
  • Identify and quantify permanent tax adjustments.
  • Quarterly analysis and review of UK company trial balances for tax forecasting and calculation of quarterly instalment payments
  • Assist with quarterly and annual processes for US reporting requirements Eg SOX and other US submissions
  • Assist the Corporate Tax Manager to prepare quarterly analysis for potential CFC impact on UK group
  • Calculate current and deferred tax for inclusion in UK Statutory Accounts, and prepare tax disclosure notes using tax software;
  • Preparation of corporate tax returns for UK companies in the group
  • Preparation of return to accrual analysis for inclusion in the US tax workbooks;
  • Responsibility for routine administration of tax compliance process, including making all appropriate claims and elections within required time limits
  • Initial preparation of correspondence with HMRC
  • Develop process for collection of data for ongoing R&D claims
  • Review of fixed asset registers, CapEx and Revenue spend for possible tax savings  and correct identification
  • Ad-hoc project work as required in the area of UK Corporate tax
  • Support tax manager with tax audits
  • Work with all UK business sites to track the global mobility of employees visiting the UK and consider tax implications and reporting requirements of such
  • Support the Corporate Tax Manager with employments and payroll tax reporting relating to PSAs, P11ds and stock compensation
  • Assist with preparation of internal tax advice to business partners and implementation of tax projects.

 

Personal skills:

  • 2-3 years of experience in tax relating to UK and Ireland;
  • Tax and / or accountancy qualification ACA, ACCA, CTA/ATT;
  • Multinational tax reporting and/or experience of working in industry a plus;
  • Experience of both corporate and employment tax is desirable
  • Demonstrates strong self-awareness (i.e., manages ambiguity, instils trust, has interpersonal savvy);
  • Customer-focused and demonstrates business insight;
  • Effective communicator and collaborator;
  • Accountable and proven track record of achieving results even under tough conditions;
  • Organized, drives results and works independently to deadlines;
  • Ability to interface with accounting, and finance teams;
  • Knowledge of tax preparation software (Alphatax) is desirable;
  • Strong Excel skills;
  • Experience with providing tax responses to HMRC;
  • Ability & willingness to travel to all Terex facilities within the UK.
